Meet Desnailah!!!
Why I Created Desnailah
When I first began creating the world of Totus, I knew I wanted every character to represent something real. Not dragons or monsters, but the thoughts and emotions we all experience, no matter our age.
That is how Desnailah was born.
Desnailah is the voice of procrastination. She doesn’t yell, threaten, or force anyone to make a bad choice. She simply whispers. She tells us there is always more time. She convinces us that tomorrow is a better day to start. Sometimes she even makes us believe we are not good enough or ready enough to begin.
Most of us have heard those whispers before.
As children, we put off homework, chores, or practicing something new. As adults, we delay phone calls, put our dreams on hold, or wait for the “right time” to take the next step. Before we know it, weeks, months, or even years have passed.
I wanted children to understand that this happens to everyone.
When we can give those thoughts a name, they become easier to recognize. Instead of feeling like something is wrong with us, we can stop for a moment and ask ourselves, “Is this Desnailah whispering to me?”
That one question changes everything.
The goal was never to create a character that children would fear. I wanted to create a character they would understand. Desnailah reminds us that the biggest obstacles in life are not always standing in front of us. Sometimes they are the quiet thoughts that keep us from taking the first step.
That is why Desnailah is found at the base of the Totus Pyramid.
Every journey has to begin somewhere. Before we can build confidence, courage, or purpose, we have to recognize the habits that keep us standing still. Awareness is the foundation for every lesson that follows.
I hope Desnailah starts conversations in homes and classrooms. I hope children begin to recognize those quiet whispers for what they are. Most of all, I hope they discover that they always have a choice.
The whispers may be real, but they do not have the final say.
Every day gives us another chance to begin again.
